Want a piece of me?!?! Why yes...yes we do!

Belly Dance New England has always supported dancers' fundraising events for a variety of charities by helping to spread the word far and wide. The New England belly dance community is generous, hardworking, and raises thousands of dollars each year for everything from animal welfare to women's rights indeveloping countries.

Belly Dance New England is pleased to announce that we have chosen three organizations as our "official" charitable causes. Each has a different focus, but the same goal - to save lives through the donation of human blood, tissue, and organs. They are:

However, we are not asking for your money, your talent, or your baked goods. We just want a piece of *you*. We want you to give blood, sign up with the national marrow registry, and tobecome a card-carrying organ donor. If you have your health, you are rich beyond measure. Sharing that with others is the ultimate gift.

fundraising ideas

The New England belly dance community is extraordinarily kind and generous. This page highlights the community's great fundraising work - past and present. In 2010, you all raised $26,418 for charity! Shall we aim for $30,000 in 2011?

If you have a fundraiser coming up, email me and we'll post it. If you have sponsored a fundraiser in 2010 and it's not listed here, email me so your efforts can be counted!

Not exactly a local fundraiser, but it's a really cool idea, and I'm sure we all know at least one person serving overseas. Skin Can Do makes something called "Combat-Ready Balm", a salve designed to heal heavily irritated and damaged skin. A soldiers' wife sent some to her husband in Iraq, who said it was just the thing for sand flea bites and sunburn! You can donate money to send care packages of Combat-Ready Balm, Lip Balm, and soap to our troops oversea. Skin Can Do takes care of packaging and shipping. If you want your package to go to a particular soldier, Skin Can Do will take care of that, too!
